Edinburgh International Fashion Festival is due to start this week and we’re excited to see designers from all over Scotland and further afield come together to display new and inspiring work. We are especially excited to see that part of the Fashion Festival will be dedicated to knitting – Knit Works! Scottish and Scandinavian knitting experts will be exhibiting their work, with workshops and talks also taking place of the weekend of the 19th and 20th of July.

The Epitome team helped style Cameron Taylor’s collection for the Future Fashion show at EIFF last year, and we’re  pleased to announce that they will be back at the festival this year for the Makers Market on the 21st and 22nd of July at the Assembly Rooms. The Makers Market aims to -

“bring awareness to the wider public regarding the journey of a garment – talking them through education, mills, skills, manufacturing and of course selling”

Cameron taylor* know the business of design all too well and are known for manufacturing all their knitwear in Scotland – it is an important part of their philosophy as a home grown Scottish knitwear company. this year they have taken their passion for local manufacturing one step further by teaming up with local leather crafter, Mackenzie Leather.

Mackenzie Leather X Cameron taylor* is a fusion of traditional leather working methods and fashion forward designs - creating a timeless collection of hand crafted Scottish leather accessories including tote bags, belts, cuffs and phone cases. The leather is tanned using traditional methods, using oak bark and plant extracts to create and close, even grain which compliments the luxurious colour palettes used throughout the CT* Collections.

“For us, pure cashmere and real leather are two fundamental components of

any wardrobe.”

We couldn’t agree more; quality materials not only age beautifully, but they stand the test of time and can be passed down from generation to generation.

In a world where fast fashion is the norm and a garment/accessory is produced identically thousands of times over, it’s essential for us to continue supporting traditional manufacturing processes and local producers.

The Cameron taylor* X Mackenzie Leather collaboration embodies this idea, creating pieces which are timeless and made in their ten’s rather than their thousands.
